Description

Peekaboo! The male is peeking out on the right of this Florida palm tree trunk. He's the shy guy! The female is on the left above the nest hole. The male's bright cap goes all the way to the bill, while the lady has a dark grey head above the red area. Red-bellied Woodpeckers are pale, medium-sized woodpeckers found in forests of the Eastern USA. The strikingly barred backs and gleaming red caps of these birds are a lovely sight.
