Description
Drive down a dirt road to the Snook Haven on the Myakka River in Venice, FL. Now you are in true Old Florida, minus high-rises, interstates and traffic! Sitting outside among shady oak trees draped with Spanish moss and other lichens and epiphytes, we looked up to see covered branches creating this beautiful old canopy. Old forests ecosystems are gigantic stands. Plant sugars are manufactured overhead nourishing organisms such as insects and birds in the “high frontier”, treetops of an oak/palm hammock. This is the B&W version of Myakka Canopy.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
