Description
Enjoy this yellow mum posing prettily on a glass flower on a blue background. We were invited to dine with a gracious retired couple from New York, who put a single flower in a glass flower, which she called hibiscus holders, at each place setting. I hope I didn't admire them overly much; I got them for Christmas! This was shot in my tabletop studio.
Chrysanthemum flowers, also called mums or chrysanths, are in the Asteraceae family and are the birth month flower for November. They have multiple narrow petals and are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia; they are particularly known, bred and loved in China. There are about 40 valid species plus countless colorful horticultural varieties and cultivars. Thanks for considering my photography, paintings and marbled papers.
