Description
This was my favorite auto at a recent Florida car show, I believe this Yellow Auburn Boattail is a Glenn Pray Auburn 866 Speedster, not an original 1936 model.
In 1966 Glenn planned to put the Auburn Speedster back into production. The 1966 concept is the reasoning behind naming the new Auburn as a Model 866. The original Auburns were identified with an 8 or a 6 at the start of their model designations. Eight cylinder cars used an "8" as in 851, 852... The 6 cylinder cars used a "6" at the beginning of their model number (653, 654). Glenn's production cars also used 8 cylinder engines as in Fords 429 cubic inch V8. The newly produced Auburns were sold and titled as an Auburn 866. These Auburns went into production and were offered for sale in 1968. They were produced through 1981.
