Description
Star of India with sails hoisted at the embarcadero in downtown San Diego. This old tall ship, launched as the Euterpe in about 1863, is part of the Maritime Museum. A tall ship is a large, classic, traditionally-rigged sailing vessel. Popular tall ship rigs include topsail schooners, brigantines, brigs and barques. Tall Ships can be defined more strictly for purposes of a particular race or festival.
San Diego Bay is a busy harbor and deep water port located in San Diego County, California near the U.S.to Mexico border, called the Big Bay by the Port Commission. One of the best natural harbors on the North American west coast, it was colonized by Spain beginning in 1769.
