Description
A beautiful Abutilon. This bright and unusual five-petaled flower was found growing in South America at a stream-side park in Peru. Abutilon is a large genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae, found throughout the tropics and subtropics. Abutilon is also called flowering maple, parlor maple or Chinese lantern. Although it is no relation to the maple tree, Abutilon does have maple-like palmate leaves. The stripes and shape are reminiscent of a tiger and tigers eye.
