Description
The Ferguson was a light-weight but effective agricultural tractor designed by Harry Ferguson. There were TEs and TOs. Harry Ferguson applied for a British patent in 1925, which was granted the following year. The TE (Tractor England) range of Ferguson tractors was introduced in England in 1946. Its automatic control system is now employed by almost all tractor manufacturers worldwide. The engine was the standard wet liner inline-four engine. His successful design was manufactured from 1946 until 1956, and the TE was commonly known as the Little Grey Fergie. It is now a popular collector's item. There were also TO models (Tractor Overseas). To get volume production with lower costs, Ferguson made a gentlemen's agreement with Ford to produce the Ferguson tractor in Detroit starting around mid-1939 and continuing to the mid 50s. As this old specimen is being used as exterior decor for a restaurant in San Diego, California, I assume it is a TO model.
