Description
This lovely young lady is standing on her family farm in the puszta or prairie outside of Kalocsa, Hungary. The yellow building in the background is the barn. Kolocsa, founded in the 11th century by Hungarys first King, Stephen, enjoyed its golden age in the 15th century, Following Turkish occupation, it was burned in 1602. After the Turks were expelled the town was completely rebuilt in the 18th century. Then the communists left some ugly architecture from their regime, but the town flourishes as an agricultural center today and is known for its paprika peppers and folk art.
