Description
Cute donkey fountain on castle grounds in Homburg, Germany, in square format. Labeled Steeaisel. This statue is in grateful memory of the donkeys who carried the stones on the vineyard terraces, as suggested by the terraced fountain.
Note from Darrin: Beautiful shot! Homburg is not far from where I lived and I never knew about this fountain. I believe the name of the fountain is local dialect (Saarländisch) for Steinesel (stone donkey.)

What a delightful fountain! How interesting that you went back to find out a story of a place not far from where you lived. FL
