Description
Cactus de Colores. A vertical botanical of cool colors in a hot climate! This California cactus was towering over my head and as I glanced up, the epiphyte growing on the edge of it caught my eye. When I looked at the photo I was amazed by the variety of colors showing on the different facets. This tall, succulent cactus is a member of the plant family Cactaceae within the order Caryophyllales. I believe it specifically is a Pachycereus marginatus. An epiphyte, aerophyte, or air plant is a plant that grows harmlessly on another plant and depends on it for support but not food. Epiphytes get moisture and nutrients from the air or from water that collects on the host plant.

Hurrah for having your artwork chosen to be a featured piece on our homepage this week. You have many fine pieces in your portfolio of your works, and I am happy you chose this one to submit for possible featuring in our group on the homepage. It now has reached that goal of being featured in our group, a family of friends and fine artists of the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery Group. Congratulations on this fine accomplishment
